Biannual awards acknowledge superior healing benchmarks, excellence in patient satisfaction
The Center for Wound Healing at Cabell Huntington Hospital (CHH) and the St. Mary’s Wound and Hyperbaric Center (SMMC), members of Mountain Health Network, have both been honored as dual recipients of the Clinical Distinction and Patient Satisfaction Awards from RestorixHealth, a leading wound care management company. Recipients of these awards meet or exceed national quality benchmarks over a set period.
“These achievements reaffirm the quality of wound care that Mountain Health Network hospitals provide their patients every day,” said Hoyt Burdick, MD, chief medical officer, Mountain Health Network. “We are proud to be a recipient of these awards that recognize the hard work and dedication of our staff.”
RestorixHealth’s Clinical Distinction Award recognizes those centers that have demonstrated success by meeting or exceeding healing benchmarks, while the Patient Satisfaction Award recognizes those centers that have met or achieved a patient satisfaction score of 96% or higher.
The wound centers at CHH and SMMC are dedicated to optimizing outcomes and preventing lower limb loss in patients with non-healing wounds. Their approach to wound care is aggressive and comprehensive, coordinating traditional and advanced therapies and techniques that are proven to reduce healing time and improve healing rates.
The center is staffed with clinicians with advanced training in wound care and hyperbaric medicine. Integrating a team of wound care professionals optimizes patient care, while offering the most advanced healing options for hard to heal wounds. The CHH team is led by its medical director, David A. Denning, MD, FACS, Marshall Health surgeon and chair of the Department of Surgery and professor at the Marshall University Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine. The SMMC team is led by co-medical directors Kirt Miller, DPM, HIMG podiatry specialist, and Karim Boukhemis, MD, Scott Orthopedic Center orthopedic surgeon.
