Marshall Health Network longtime Chief Financial Officer Announces Retirement

Monte Ward
Monte Ward, Chief Financial Officer of Marshall Health Network (MHN), has announced his retirement will be August 31, 2025.
“For more than four decades, Monte has been a steady and visionary financial leader for Cabell Huntington Hospital, Mountain Health Network, and Marshall Health Network,” stated Scott Raynes, President and CEO, MHN. “His dedication, loyalty, and remarkable leadership have been instrumental in shaping the success and growth of our organization. Monte’s influence can be seen in every major milestone of our health system, especially his guidance through both challenges and opportunities. He has truly been a cornerstone of our success, and his impact will be felt for years to come.”

Kevin Barr
Ward will continue to share his expertise in a consulting role from September 1 through December 31, 2025, helping ensure a smooth transition. Beginning September 1, Kevin Barr will assume the role of Interim CFO to allow time to conduct a national search for a permanent successor. Barr joined MHN in May 2025 through Warbird Healthcare Advisors and has more than 30 years of healthcare operations and financial leadership experience. A seasoned health system executive, Barr is known for his ability to develop and translate strategies into company growth and operational performance. With a strong background in operations, consulting, and leadership development, he is able to lead teams to consistent and sustainable performance results. He previously served as Senior Vice President for Bon Secours, a $3.5 billion Catholic health system, where his responsibilities included strategic finance, capital projects, and integration activities that contributed to system-wide growth and performance. He has also worked with Ernst & Young, a global accounting firm.

Lisa Postelwait
In addition, a new Corporate Controller role has been created to strengthen financial operations. Lisa Postelwait is assuming this position on an interim basis, also through Warbird Healthcare Advisors. Postelwait is a financial executive with over 20 years of progressive leadership in driving operational and capital strategies, budgeting, forecasting, and financial management. Recognized for conducting comprehensive financial analyses, meticulously evaluating performance metrics, and delivering actionable insights, Postelwait has served in key finance and controller positions with Summit Healthcare, Medical University of South Carolina, and Oklahoma University Health. As the MHN controller, Postelwait’s duties include oversight of financial reports, internal controls, audit activities, regulatory compliance and reporting, and accounting policies and procedures.
