Marshall Health Network-St. Mary’s Medical Center (SMMC) has been awarded the HeartCARE Center National Distinction of Excellence from the American College of Cardiology (ACC) Accreditation Services.
Hospitals receiving the HeartCARE Center designation from the ACC have demonstrated their commitment to consistent, high-quality cardiovascular care through comprehensive process improvement, disease and procedure-specific accreditation, professional excellence, and community engagement.
SMMC was awarded this designation in March based on accreditation criteria and ongoing performance registry reporting.
“St. Mary’s Medical Center has demonstrated its commitment to providing the Tri-State region with excellent heart care,” said Deepak L. Bhatt, MD, MPH, FACC, chair of the ACC Accreditation Management Board. “ACC Accreditation Services is proud to award St. Mary’s with the HeartCARE Center designation.”
The ACC offers U.S. and international hospitals like SMMC access to a comprehensive suite of cardiac accreditation services designed to optimize patient outcomes and improve hospital financial performance. These services are focused on all aspects of cardiac care.
“Congratulations to all the members of St. Mary’s Medical Center Regional Heart Institute on officially earning the ACC HeartCARE Center designation,” said Melissa Mielcarek, MSHA, MBA, FACHE, Vice President of Cardiovascular Services at Marshall Health Network. “Our team has worked very hard to achieve this important designation.”
