St. Mary's Director of Volunteer Services Recognized for Contributions

Patricia Chambers Wins Award for Top Director in Thirteen-State Region

The Southeastern Directors of Volunteer Services in Healthcare Organizations (SDVSHO) has selected Patricia Chambers as the organization’s Director of the Year for 2010.  Chambers has been director of volunteer services at St. Mary’s Medical Center for the past 17 years.  The award is given for outstanding contributions and professionalism in the field of volunteer administration.  “We are so pleased Pat received this recognition for her outstanding work,” said David Sheils, president of the St. Mary’s Medical Center Foundation. “Pat oversees a wonderful group of volunteers. The volunteers certainly share in this award because they enjoy helping Pat and St. Mary’s serve the needs of patients and visitors on a daily basis.”  Chambers also helped design and open St. Mary’s new gift shop in the main lobby. The added proceeds from that expansion have benefited the hospital in many different ways.

SDVSHO was founded in 1993 and it represents directors of volunteer services from healthcare organizations in Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, Alabama, South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia, Maryland, Arkansas, Tennessee, Louisiana, Kentucky and West Virginia.
